Theme 35 - Death

Door bell rang. She rushed; she was going to meet him after a long separation.
On the other side of the door was an army man standing with a trunk of his things. He was dead.
Deep pain held back her tears, she was laughing hysterically on that cruel joke of fate.
- Aman Soni

There he was, bed ridden, wearing hospital’s clothes but with hopeful eyes, cheerful smile and stories to share.
Even cancer could not make him fragile because he always believed in, ‘Death, be not proud!’
- Ankita Binnani

In the end-
You will remember all the lovely moments, would wish to spend more time with them, will regret for all the fights, will miss laughter with tears in eyes...
Everything revives and finishes at the same time. Only memories will be played and life will pause.
You will be here and they will be far apart.
- Sanchi Bahrani

She is remembered with all the love and has proved that body is ephemeral, but soul- eternal.
She was bubbly and suave, always ready to help others. Her 20th birthday was no less than a nightmare when she was diagnosed of cancer. She was given 2 years to live, and she welcomed the inevitable with full vigor.
- Pragya Dubey

What’s dying? I am standing on the seashore, gazing a vessel until she fades from the horizon. Diminishing in size, alleviating to a point. She has gone beyond my sight. But that’s not it. There’s someone standing on another coast, watching her arrive, growing bigger and bigger in size, saying “here she comes”. That’s dying.
- Ashwary Sharma

It has been four years since he passed away. She still cries, not able to understand why death of one ought to mean death of two…

I fought and cried like a little kid, demanding for the cutest creature in my eyes. As tiny as my hand could hold, as soft and white as creamy milk, the little bunny hopped into my world! Little did I know that it would end up like a four day long dream…
- Apoorva Ranka

I was hypercritical. “No chance!!”, the doctor remarked. But I was calm and gladden...
I was going to meet my mom after long 6 years, up there.
- Simran Chandwani

Rajesh had a rough day at the office and 8 year old Aviraj had to face his wrath, for not studying the whole day. Weeks passed but he didn't dare to step out. Finally when his friends asked for his absence, Rajesh realized that although the beating wasn't fatal, but it had killed the child within.

- Nikita Kumawat

Second Entries:

- Nikita Kumawat
